    The British School , Panchkula girls bag the under-15 Chess Championship

    The British School , Panchkula girls bagged the overall trophy in the Under-15 category at The 9th Panchkula Distt Chess Championship . Dr. H.S Saini , District education Officer, Panchkula gave away the prizes to the winners of the ‘The 9th Panchkula Distt Chess Championship (For Girls)’ being held at The British School, Panchkula. The two day tournament concluded today in the presence of Mrs Urmilla Sethi, Chairperson – The British Schools, Mr Naresh Sharma, Vice President, The Chess Association Panchkula and Mr Sanjay Sethi, Championship Director and Director of The British School, Panchkula. Dr H.S Saini said that Chess is a game which stimulates the brain and teaches the players to plot and strategize. Today’s children stay engaged in video games and T.V and waste their time. These children should be encouraged to take up sports specially Chess that helps even in their academics. The School Director Mr. Sanjay Sethi shared that chess is recognized by the sports policy of Haryana State Championship. He informed that over 150 girls took part in this two day tournament. Shri Harish Kumar, Secretary Panchkula Chess Association shared that Panchkula will be hosting the Haryana State Chess Championship on 11-13 May. Over 300 students from across the state are expected to take part.

    2nd- Satluj School, Sector-2
    2. Under-11(Girls Team)
    1st- Bhavan Vidyalya, Sector-15
    2nd- The Gurukul School, Sector-20
    3. Under-13(Girls Team)
    1st-The Gurukul, Sector-19, Panchkula
    2nd-Alpine School, Pinjore
    4. Under-15(Girls Team)
    1st-The British School, Panchkula
    5. Under-17(Girls Team)
    1st- Alpine School, Pinjore.
